The 3rd Deaf Cricket World Cup scheduled for January / February 2011 in New Zealand has been canceled. Announced by organizing committee of NZ Deaf Cricket. All the Deaf Cricket Associations of the world received an email from Deaf Cricket International Federation’s General Secretary, Mr. Peter Jurgenstein on Tuesday 10 August announcing the cancellation.
In an email to Mr. Jurgenstein, Deaf Sports Federation of New Zealand President Nicki Morrison cited ‘the inability to source funding’ as the primary reason for the cancellation. Ms. Morrison also expressed apologies on behalf of Deaf Sports Federation of New Zealand, New Zealand Cricket and New Zealand Deaf Cricket Association that the tournament will not go ahead.
3rd Deaf World Cup Cricket Cancelled
All the world deaf cricket associations are naturally disappointed by the cancellation as there has been much work done behind the scenes. As a result of the cancellation, deposit paid by players will be refunded in full and advertisements for officials will be withdrawn.
At this time fund rising is too much hard and not easy to find a donor. The same situation is with Pakistan deaf squash team who are ready to participate in 5th World Deaf Squash Championship which will be held at Auckland New Zealand in coming October. But the flood worst then tsunami is making hurdles in their ways to get access for WDSC.
This is also a fact that inflation of oil prices making too much problems in general lives. Peoples are frustrated and they are seeking for relief in oil prices which is not possible in south East Asian countries.
Flood which is worst then tsunami hits pakistan a lot, no hope for current sports activities and international tours for pakistan's teams.
Just a month is left in WDSC and funding is too much slow. This cause will keep out Pakistan deaf squash team from world championship. Currently PDSA has only hope that only two players Bilal Tahir and Bilal Atiq will fly for New Zealand. Aliya Sarfraz dropped from the deaf squash squad due to late of her passport issue. Now only Manager Muhammad Usman will fly with both players if situations could in rest.
